Employer Resources

We have actually included training videos donated by potential employers in order to reinforce safety procedures. Companies who are hiring your graduates often like to see their policies presented in the curriculum.

laura,

This is an interesting activity. I'm curious...do you allow the students to tell you that it is a "bad/good" video or do you let them know, before you show them?

I actually use good and bad videos. I allow the students to watch the bad video first and pick out the discrepencies. Then I allow them to watch the good video. This allows the student to see the appropriate techniques. It also gives me an idea if they reviewed the material assigned to them.

I think it important to show videos and it reenforces the lesson. It also breaks up audio learnng and visual learning.

Pre-recorded videos are a great idea. We have classes that run on 6-week cycles. We used to have employers do in-class visits as guest speakers, but after a few visits, they are always bowing out saying it takes too much time for them. I think a video might be a good substitute for this.

We have shown videos of proper blood spill procedures in our field and first aid. I believe human resources are the best teachers for the field...Bringing theory to real world practice
