Clicker Tests
Something that I found really helpful was the use of clicker tests. At the end of my lecture, pending time of course, I would do a review test of the chapters I just lectured on. The students would be able to answer the questions without fear of missing one and being docked points. It was a great way to involve class participation as well as review and Q&A time.
In addition studies show that pre-test are an excellent way to insure students are retaining the information right after a lecture. So the clicker test is use full in multiple ways.
I too think this is a great idea. Why stress the students when it's not necessary. You are more likely to find out what they really know.
This is very interesting. I have not heard of this clicker testing, but would like to know more. Often students don't do as well when they know that points are at stake. But to be able to "test them without really testing them" would be refreshing.
