Technologies

Staying up on the new technologies is important for the visual student. Visual aids of all types are a benefit because if the student visualize a theory sometime you cut the lecture time down to size. Audio student can often grasp the information faster but you risk loosing some student in the explanation.

Allowing for multiple technologies to be used increases a students information retention.

It has been proven that if someone reads something for themselves they retain it better then if they are read to or verbally presented with the information.

Now if that same person were to read it out loud to themselves so they could both see and hear the information they increase their knowledge retention even more.

Adding the final piece to the ensemble if the same person who is reading out loud to them selves was to trace the word they read with their fingers they would again increase their information retention even more.

This is caused by multiple sensory inputs into the brain. They are stimulating the sight, hearing and touch responses of the brain. The information has a longevity in the brain because it is now associated with all three of the sensory inputs into the brain, instead of just one.

By integrating different technologies into our class structures we can show the students how to maximize the amount of sensory input they get with the information which can increase their retention rate.
