I've learned that the prepared material never fills as much time as you think. Have extras ready.
This was a good reminder about knowing the audience/student body, their level or prior knowledge and being deliberate about lesson planning to quickly bridge the gap and get traction with content matieral
I have learned how important time management is preparing lesson plans. It is important to always have back up assignments in case your lecture doesn't fill the entire class period. This will help students stay engaged on the topics being covered that day.
Develop go-to content if delivery is faster than anticipated.
Understanding my strengths and how my students learn can set us both up for success.
I learned to plan for efficiency of course so that there is a good flow. Giving a pretest to students upon entering the course is a great way to guage their KSA's and develop a plan on movig forward with learning.
It is a good idea to establish a baseline of what your students already know. This allows you to develop the lesson plans focusing on what is missing from their knowledge and not repeating things they already know thus losing the student's attention.
Lesson planning serves as a guide for instructing students. Getting to know the students will help with managing the course because you will know where they are already at with the subject matter.
The importance of discovering what your students know and where they are in the field before creating a lesson plan.
Be flexible with your adult learners. and be Prepared for classes with enough time in order to have your lessons to present to them
The idea of a pretest was interesting.
Should always plan to have a baseline test to fully understand the classrooms knowledge of the information being taught.
I now see that an involved instructor is going to make time for efficient prep for a course.
For me it's valuable information as a teacher in order to respect my students and myself.
A lot goes into lesson prep before you even begin preparing the actual content.
Very good overview of how to "prepare" for your class. From experience I know that getting to know your students is the building block for the rest. Time management will be easier once you know who you are working with and can tailor your lesson plan to the group.
I think being able to adapt and trying to bring in additional resources were two of the biggest things I drew from this lesson. There is so much of a focus on curriculum maps and pacing guides I think we sometimes do our students a disservice by not having the flexibility to spend more or less time than what is allocated in the guide.
I learned how important it is to plan he course and base the lessons off your students and their current knowledge
I learned that we need to know our audience in order to deliver effective lessons.
Very important to pre-test prior to planning your lessons.
