Any suggestions for class activities

I have three and a half hours of lecture every other day. I try to involve the students but I have exhausted all my resources. Does anyone have any suggestions for games or activites?

Hi John,
Awesome way to learn! Students get the book theory, and they get to apply what they have learned.

At our school we have class room and lab. The students have lecture in the class room and then they go to our lab and they use what they have learned in class to preform there lab tasks.

This probably sounds very childish, but (depending on the average age in the class) most of my classes actually enjoy recreations of child games. We play a version of the "matching" game with medications & doses; also mechanism of action for the medications and generic names. Some students are hesitant, but I find that they jump right in after a few minutes.
I have also played "hangman" on the board; with each correct "letter" guess I give the class a clue as to what the answer is. This works very well for medical terms as well as anatomy terms... at least for me it does.

Hi Melanie,
Great excercise! I am sure your students enjoy this learning experience. It is fun and effective.

I use this in composition classes for a end of class activity. If students have access to a computer, I have them complete crossword puzzles. Everyone is given the same one, including me. I have students work in pairs and encourage them to use the Internet to find definitions if they are not familiar with a word. I, on the other hand, complete the puzzle without using any assistance. If anyone beats me to the completion, then there is a prize! As a follow-up, students must then choose 4-5 words that are new to them in the puzzle and look up good definitions and write a sentence using each one correctly. We discuss the new words found as a class.

Hi Megan,
Different...Pin the Tail on the Donkey. I also like using Bingo and Scrabble.

I've used several classic board game and game show ideas. Jeopardy, charades, pin the tail on the donkey, as well as just using an oral quiz format to make sure information got through.

Hi Kathy,
Two popular games to make learning fun are Bingo and Jeopardy. Students love it when learning is made fun.

I use Bingo for my class if they can answer a question they get to mark the space. They really enjoy it sometimes they will quiz each other.

Hi Anthony,
Try jeopardy and bingo for games. Also youtube has great ideas as well.
