Active Learning in the Sciences
I TA an online physics course. The ideas presented in this course seem quite useful in a classroom setting, but for a course already geared towards problem solving, it is difficult to implement group discussions or presentations, especially in the online setting. It would be interesting to hear anyone else's experience with a similar situation.
Hi David,
Skype is such a valuable tool to use with online teaching. It does help with not having the face-to-face in the classroom. It makes it more traditional for students.

I too am a TA for physics content that has an online component. We require students to attend a weekly conference call on Skype, during which students can engage in discussions. Often some discussion questions or even the homework problems result in some in-depth discussions between the students and sharing of experience.
Hi Nicholas,
I have not experienced such, but you may want to allow your students to perform mini teaching lessons and have them come up with hands-on activities for the class.
