Hi Bonnie,
Trying incorporating a participation grade on the syllabus to motivate students to want to participate.

Ifeel that active learning, certainly the best way to have a student making there own decisions then put to practical use.

I am a farely new teacher and I have been excited to try some active learning techniques. I have created games and had them do small group assignments. For the most part these are well received since the students are not receiving the same old "waa waa waaa." However, I have some trouble addressing the one or few students who do not participate. Any thoughts on how to do this without slapping a ruler on their desk, pointing them out in front of the class, etc?

Hi Steve,
I concur! Students absolutely love active learning. Active learning brings a lot more energy into the classroom.

Active learning makes learning a much more enjoyable and exciting experience for students.they get involved with the learning and understand it much better.

Hi Eduard,
Active learning gives you a great idea as to whether the student has grasped the lectured concept or not.

Hi, Sor Angel.

It is great to teach using active learning. Students are more focused in classes making decisions, sharing comments with others student. It is important that students think, analyze, prioritize and resolve activities by themselves with a little or no participation of teacher. The key is less passive lecture more active learning.

Hi Ruth,
I feel as though with active learning, the good certainly out weighs the bad! I am a big fan of active learning. Students love doing!

I have also been involved with active learning for many years. I thought the way this lesson broke the sections down into implementation, the discussion of the barriers and the risks make it very easy to see the pitfalls as well as the advantages.

Hi Sor Angel,
I concur! I have been teaching for nearly 24 years, and I know that you cannot go wrong with active learning. Students love active learning.
