Lecture techniques
We have the the benifits of 'pure' lecture so I normally start the class with this format to inform the studenst of all the necessary data that needs to be grasped, such as dates; times and places and then break into a more informal lecture/discussion format to involve the students
Hi Jackie,
Awesome! Students love it when they are able to do hands-on activities. You have the best of both world by being able to lecture and then stop to do lab to reinforce lecture.

I try to incorporate hands on and/or training aids w/the lecture which is normal, however in the class that I instruct we have the luxury to stop and go to lab to reinforce the lecture.
Great things to add to lectures. This has given me ideas of scenarios and to incorporate role playing into my next lesson.
Hi Rick,
Great variety! I love to use scenarios, mock learning, and role playing in addition to those things you have mentioned.

i have the benefit of lecture only being used one day a week, my classes are mostly hands on. But when i do lecture i use several different visuals as well as Q & A during to keep them involved. I use power point, white board, visual aids, and try to relate it with their experiences as well as mine from past situations.
Hi Greg,
Use various teaching methods to express excitement in the classroom.

You say benifits of pure lecture, I assume you mean that you can only teach in the classroom. When that is the case, I like the idea of forming discusion groups to if nothing else, break up the long boring class time.
