Active Learning & Collaboration

When students work together I often find those who grasp difficult concepts quickly cementing their knowledge by helping those who are having difficulty. Thosw with difficulty seem to accept help from their peers more readily and appear more willing to listen and observe.

Hi Kristine,
Former students are priceless. They can serve as great motivators. It is nothing better than talking to someone who has gone through what you are going through and that person became successful.

I LOVE TO HAVE PREVIOUS STUDENTS RETURN AND ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES AND DISCUSSIONS WITH CURRENT STUDENTS. THE CURRENT STUDENTS FEEL AT EASE ASKING QUESTIONS AND GAGING WHAT INFORMATION THE PREVIOUS STUDENTS GATHERED THAT HELPED THEM THE MOST IN THEIR PRESENT PROFESSION

Hi Rosemary,
This is a super way to get students to thinking and also this is exactly what they can expect to do once they gain employment. You are doing a fantastic job preparing your students for the real world.

I like to include brainstorming sessions in my design class. Students come up with creative solutions for each others design problems and enjoy sharing their ideas. This is how it works in the industry as product development is usually a team effort.

Hi KAI,
Peers can really teach each other a lot. I like having peer teaching in my class. Students enjoy this type of activity as well.
