An Instructors influence on active learning
I had always considered the amount of influence an instructor can have on how a class can learn and facilitate learning. However, I never quite thought about how their own personal beliefs or thoughts can become a barrier.
I can't imagine an instructor not caring at all if their students but I can see how an inexperienced instructor can be timid or not so confident in trying new approaches of facilitating learning. I was there once, I can admit, but am glad that I have been able to develop as an instructor to better service our students.
Hi Richard,
Have confidence! Preparation is key! Just remember, you know way more about the subject matter than your students. In the profession of teaching, you really do become better with time.

Hi Amy,
I love sharing positive quotes with my students daily. If the quote affects one person then I have made an impact. Most students love the positive quotes. I too love positive quotes.

As an instructor, it is natural to be timid and nervious about ones performance, even if there is sufficient knowledge of the materials. Learning how to teach and be effective is the answer but each class is different. Active learning takes preparation by the instructor as well as a knowledeg base of how to identify the needs of students on an individual basis.
I'm new to teaching, and your quote is going to be my mantra. I love it! Thank you!
Hi Regina,
Love the quote! Students know that you care about them.

My quote for the first day of class is always, "I am not here to teach you, but to create an environment for you to learn."
Hi Santos,
We should give our students everything we have to help them succeed, and of course, they must do their part. We should never lack on our part. Most of our students depend greatly on us.
