Learning Styles

Active learning seems like an ideal method! However does it take into account all of the different learning styles? It seems to mostly cater to kinesthetic learners, but I suppose it depends on the actual lesson plan. Some students still may learn best lecture style, but I definitely prefer instructing/participating in active learning.

I was interesting to me that many of the students in my class had never taken an assessment to determine what their learning style. They were amazed. That alone turned into a full discussion and how knowing their individual styles can/will aid them as they continue on their educational journey

I agree that active learning style may seem to side with one type learners, however, in teaching technical students, sometimes with one or more styles of learning, I have found active learning is the most dynamic and rewarding to the hands on and also room for the analytical.
I believe the ideal here is to find a balance from lecture to hands-on/active has work best in the technical training classroom.

Hi Erin,
Active learning also helps with visual learners as well.
