See Say Do

Dr. Meers and all other students... What are good resources for task analysis involving see-say-do modalitites? I am teaching grammar, and am familiar with methods for 4th grade, but want to know how to make the clas engaging for adults.

For grammer lessons I'd advise a homework assignment of "old movies" anything black & white for the most part. Good grammer, vocabulary, syntax - it was pretty tightly monitored back in the day.

Hi John,
What we have found most effective are using the basic reading strategies for the late elementary grades but with adult examples. We have gone to different career instructors and gotten examples from their fields and then used them in grammar development.
I would make contact with your local Adult Basic Literacy Council and look at the materials they are using. You might be able to use them directly or with minor modifications. Each city/county has some kind of literacy group so this resource should be available to you.
