rolling with the punches
I find that most student will give there best if the instructor involves the class in the lesson plan. The instructors should learn to be flexiable with the lesson plan some times the old pour and snore method just doesnt work. make the lecture fun by having the student move with lesson. Occasionally it leave the instuctor open to failure but if you roll with the punches you can over come the set back and learn a new way of getting the student involved.
instructional plans must met the needs to which our student can relate too. I certainly agree with you. At times when lectures was deemed by students as irrelevant to daily life, student don't even bother to open their books. It has to be done in a manner where enthuasiasm and curiosity stimulation of a certain topic must be embodied. Is it okay if at the end of the class, we have those unsettled learning issues? in that way student participation is encourage.
I feel each class is different and the lesson plan needs to be modified to maintain class interest . i would agree that flexibility is the key.
I agree with you also, i would like to change the world lecture into class discussion also. i find that talking and not getting the students involeded into the class bores them. instead of doing that, i want to make the lesson apply more to them, make it more personal.
By makeing the student inclusive to there learing it makes it easier on the instructor to move rappily through tough material.
Students need to be part of the lesson plan to keep them motivated. it also is much easier to keep their attention if they are always involved.
I am going to start using that. The word lecture means that I talk and you listen. By calling it a dicussion I think the students will be more comfortable with their comments and questions.
Student involvement is important. The trick is to include them all. This can be trickey when the class is on several levels of skill. Patience and humor seem to help.
I agree with you. Get the students involved.
I have to agree with changing it up. One problem though asnd I have seen it all over here. Whats with the work lecture? A few years ago I dropped the word lecture and turned it into a group discussion. I have found alot more of the class gets involved and its not so much of the "Big Me, Little You" perception going on.
I agree with your statement. I frequently teach in general education programs for medical professionals and the more medical projects I can bring to the class syllabus, the more involved the students become and the rate of understanding skyrockets. They learn new information by doing what they know.
I change my lecture everyday we have a new topic, but sometimes the sam work. It should be the goal of every educator to raise the bar for each student.
I agrre also and I THINK YOU SHOULD GET STUDENTS INVOLVED IN YOUR LESSON FOR PARTICIPATION AND CONCEPTS LEARNING
I agree with you, I feel teachers sometimes have to make the lecture more fun, because it will keep the students focused on you and more interested on the topic.
