Role Model

When we talk about being a role model, sometimes we only view this as a model for the industry we are training students for. In reality, we're modeling for life in general. How we conduct ourselves extends beyond the industry standards of our profession. How our interaction with students, staff, parents, industry professionals, etc., are all observed and are examples to our students of what a professional person is all about.

Alot of truth was said in that we are observed. We are definitly as instructors observed by the students in every area. So if we walk into the classroom and convey a terrible attitude about being there, its no wonder that they match that same attitude and sign out of class because they don't want to be there. If we can walk in sharing the excitement that you will change the world or at least the lives of those students that day it will definitly show improvment in there education. We are molding them and that is important work. So I strongly agree that we are role models for life, not just for the field.

Hi Stephen,
You make a very good point about the professional aspects of career development. These areas need to be developed as well, since they are critical for career success. There has to be a balance between both skill development and professional conduct.
