when i tell students about myself i always let them know that by hearing about my mistakes or something i did the hard way they might be able to avoid some of the thing i went through with my business

Good point. This also makes you real in the eyes of the students. They know you have been there and have overcome the same situations that they will soon face. So they can learn from your mistakes.

I tell my students that I screwed up many times...so they don't have too.
I think it's important to let them know no-one is perfect and we had to learn from our mistakes just as they will
.I GIVE PAST MISTAKES AND THE CORRECTIVE FIX,WEATHER BUY MY OWN INGENUITY OR A MENTORS SUGGESTION.IN ALOT OF CASES I CAN USE MY EXPERIENCES IN LAB SITUATIONS TO DEMONSTRATE AN EASIER WAY.I FEEL THIS GIVES ME CREDABILITY AND A LEARNING THAT THE STUDENT WILL RETAIN.
