Motivation

I lead by example, and try to keep everything on the subject matter as simple as possible to help the student understandf the topic better....

I also use relevant issues, experiences to add to the lecture material. It typically will get their attention and often leads to an open ended discussion that can cross into various subjects: career choices, income possibilities, even ethical and legal issues.

I'm with you David. I always try to use the most interesting/entertaining stories of successes and or failures to help get points across. In this day and age it seems money is the great motivator, stressing how skills and knowledge could affect a students future income also seems to help motivate.

The nice thing about still being in the business ontop of being an instructor, The students and I relate better because I never left the field to become an instructor. I still do what they plan on doing.

I like to try to relate what the students are to learn with my experiences that I encountered when I was in the field.

I use industry representatives and graduates as models to help motivate students, along with earning capabilities, industry advantages and enjoyment of work as motivators.
