keeping up on new technology.

I have found you need to keep up on new technology that sometimes takes a while to make it into the curriculum once it is implemented in industry. Constantly look for new things that good students that do there own research might ask you.

Teaching Digital Video requires us to be fluent in the latest technology all the time. Every 18 month the software is updated and every 6 months computer processor speed doubles. Maintaining curriculum and book changes is an on going challenge.

Magazines may help, but what about those who have been out for 1o plus years, reading can only do so much as we have learnrd that most learn by doing how are we to explain something we have not done?

I cant agree more with that statement. some times students are even way ahead of the game in not only keeping up with the newest information but in understanding that some of what is being taught is somewhat out dated or of very little use in the field. it is a challenge to keep up with an ever increasing automotive technological world but it is something we have to do if we are to remain competateve as an education institution .

Two words: TRADE MAGAZINES

Sadly the delay between current technology and curriculum at my institution is extremely slow and frustrating. My personal belief is that the curriculum department should the most important department so students can get the newest and most current information they paid for.
