Bounderies
Bounderies are made in order to provide orderly conduct in the classroom and discipline needs to be established.Out of line student must be refocused on the subject at hand and let them know that as an instructor, we are the authority and respect in the classroom is the prime concern. as an instructor and a human being, how can we prevent our very own emotion spill over for the class not to see them? at times i think we are very poor dramatic actors.
Hi Jacqueline,
Good point. If you don't set and hold the boundaries you soon will not have control of the class. Someone will be the class leader and it has to be the instructor. I have been in classes where the instructor is weak and lets the strong students take over. It is a mess and very frustrating. A well managed class flows so well and everyone can settle in and start learning.

Many times students will attempt to test set boundaries. Standing firm in your expectations for the student will let them know those boundaries are not to be revised. The tone will be set for the future.
I believe that boundariers are important but everybody has their own way of setting these. I find that some intitutions set their own boundaries that "they" fell are right. Anybody who has kids or has observed kids will see this. We all dis=scipline ourselves differently so how are we to change in the clas. In other words who is most correct?
Interesting thought on this subject matter. I can't agree 100% with you on the importance of setting boundaries. Students will try your patience in more than one way. It is important to understand that we are the leaders, managers, and disciplinarians in the instructional setting, and we must always stay focused on the material at hand. Our personnal feelings and attitudes should never get in the way. Remember the saying, never let them see you sweat.....
Hi, I beleive that bounderies are important, without them our students can feel unsecure about the environment that there in. It is a great idea to refocuse the student on just who is leading the class, expect obedeance on class work and following the rules .
