role model

be a great role model! learn to motivate your students and get them to work!

role model is an important component of being an instructor because students will follow your examples when they will be part the workforce...

Hi Jodie,
Thank you for the comments about how to engage students before the class starts. As you know it is the little things like a brief conversation about what they did over the weekend or the latest movie that gets them to talking and it carries over into the classroom. It also helps to relax everyone just a bit before starting the class.

I agree with all the above comments. Being early is not only important to get yourself set up for that lesson, but it gives you time to get to know your students and them to know you as a person. I asked them tons of questions before class: What did you do over the weekend? Have you seen this movie? Anyone go to the basketball game last night? This is so important.

Being early allows me to set up the classroom with all of my supplemental material. This is very important.

I agree Mau. Be a role model for your students. I try to be in the classroom 15-30 minutes before the class is set to begin. I want to set a good example to my students. Be on time!! I am prepared and excited to teach the topic. Students can sense an instructors energy and hopefully will feed off of us.
