keeping my technical skills current and active
I am an RN and I not only teach but still work 4 to 6 shifts or more a 6 week time period in an ER where I do all the skills needed as an Emergency Room nurse it keeps me current and keeps me up to date with new medical techiniques and care provided to different groups of patients so I can better instruct my LPN students.
JS RN, BSN
I am a certified pharmacy technician and is currently instructing and working out in the field. I think it is crucial to continue education in both arenas and offer this experience in the classroom setting. Students will have current information at all times.
Hi Julie,
I admire you for your energy and dedication to your field. By working in the field as you do can bring to each class "real world" experiences that help your students to see what they will encounter when they have graduated.

I am an RN as well. I no longer work as a staff nurse, but teach both LVN and RN students in the clinical setting. I attempt to attend as many in-services as I can and subscribe to several nursing journals to keep current with new trends and technology.. VO, RN., MS.
