Professionalism

It's always great to have some time to reflect on my teaching competencies. As a lifelong learner, I find there are always areas for improvement. The Harvard bytes were interesting; it's a good touch to have input from such a prestigious school. I am also an introvert, and so my challenges are in the areas of creating greater rapport with my students.
Wish me luck! :)

I wish you luck Dorothy! I have worked clinically in the dental field for 10 years and now am teaching these needed skills to my students. I find it very easy to talk to them and show them how to take what we are learning in the classroom and apply it clinically. I believe that professionalism is a huge part of the respect that I receive from my students. I always strive to dress, act and speak appropriately, in hopes that the students not only take in the information I am lecturing about in class, but also model my behavior.

Hi Dorothy,
Good luck with your rapport development. Strive to interact with each student about something in their lives or a simple greeting about the weather, sports or something of common community interest. These little interactions will soon grow to the point you are chatting with them about their careers and future plans. It is from these interactions rapport grows.
