New instructor looking for learning activities

Hi! I'm going to be teaching an Intro to Veterinary Technology class this quater. My class is 2 hours long twice a week. I would love to break up the time by doing group activities, but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas, that don't sound too elementry. Does anyone know of any good websites?
Thanks!

Well sometimes students rather not do group work they say they feel like little kids.

Hi Lisa,
How does this strategy work for you. Do the students get involved in knowing "their" names? I would set up games and activities that use the terms so they use them over and over again while playing the games or doing the activity. Also, I would bring in someone the field to talk with them about the importance of terminology and tell some "war" stories. This generally gets students excited about coming to class.

Hi i'm also looking for ways to keep my students interesting in coming to class every day. I teach pharmacology and medical terminology and I gave all my students drug-names and each time I call them by their government name that get 10 points and who ever get the most point at the end of the quarter get a prize

I am not aware of any websites, but I have found that students LOVE to play games. I often include a type of Jeopardy or game show type of game into my planning.

I put students into groups, then ask each group a question over the material. The group with the most complete answer first gets a point.

It's basic, but a nice break to the lecture, while still reinforcing the knowledge.
