Students seem to skip class when they feel that this is in their best interest. If you compare it to skipping work maybe it will make more sense to them.

I believe every subject can be of interest. The way I peak there interest is show them through email or any other type of communication that I am interested. I want to hear their thoughts. This way it makes them feel important and that they will want to attend class. This also depends on the type of class. You do have to be flexible and bend depending on the type of class. It is also good to encourage the students dialogue so you can get to know who they are and treat them appropriately.PegRapai
