Moving your instructions outside of the classroom and out of the text book shows that an instructor is familiar with his/her course content. Simply following a syllabus and reciting the book can be performed by anyone.

Good points about what we need to do to set the stage for maximum learning opportunities for students. We need to help our student to develop coping skills so when life situations arise they will be able to handle them and still keep their careers going forward.

As first year professor, I have learned the importance of challenging the students to assess the opportunities in the real world, and outside of the classroom setting. I believe that it is vitally important for us as instructors to provide guidance and direction to our students about the reality of the work setting, and the requirements needed to succeed. It is true that their is a high importance on learning theory in the classroom, but their is also a realistic theory related to surviving the waves of life where the protected areas of a classroom are gone, and how to take the instruction and utilize it effectively in a work setting!
