Thinking outside the box for Professional Development

I am always thinking of ways to move my development beyond just technical skills or courses. I tend to get slightly bored with online courses and want something that can stimulate an entire mind/body experience. I still need it to relate to the field though. What are some suggestions

Hi Eloise,
Great suggestion. Thank you for sharing it with us.

May I suggest you look outside traditional opportunities for improvement and try looking at some white papers from Ken Blanchard or other corporate educators. Looking at the research done in todays corporate setting from a reliable source may inspire you.

Hi Michelle,
I would look at the cognitive field and brain processing. There are some very interesting things that can be done in these areas in relation to learning. By reading about brain processing from the medical perspective you can find some applications or techniques that you can use with your students that will increase their attention and engagement. What you will be doing is transferring information from a medical model to an educational one. The approach is somewhat different and I find exciting to see how it will work. I don't know if this helps but these are the kinds of things I do to keep my courses and myself enthused about what I am doing while I keep the student focused on their learning outcomes.
