Demonstrate (role model) personal excitement about the course subject and inerject personal experiences that relate to the course subject.

Exciting real life trauma experiences always draws them in. Also, to share the importance of our role in surgery and how many lives are saved with our assistance. It helps to present an even mix; a little of the excitement part of the job along with an even dose of the caring and nurturing aspect. Always, with real life examples.

Making the material relevant and allowing the students to share.

Hi Richard,
I love hearing these kinds of stories. I hope many of us have instructors like the one you had in our backgrounds. These individuals inspire us to be the best we can be as instructors. We know how much we enjoyed learning from them so we will work hard to have the same impact on our own students.

The best way I know is to get the students involved and show them how the topic relates in the real world.

I like to teach in a way that is geared toward each style of learning. If a student knows you are concerned with the way they learn, they will be excited to get the knowledge to learn

I very much enjoy using these problem solving techniques and "real-life" experiences. I find that students respond quite enthusiastically the majority of the time, especially if they have their own personal story to share.

I think that this application of using materials covered in class helps to link the lecture or lab to actual situations that occur. It promotes critical thinking, and also may help that one student who is not quite understanding to come over the hill and down the slope to comprehending the material. Conversations between classmates really stimulate the activity of the room and promote participation between individuals.

It is vital that students sense enthusiasm from the instructor. Relaying pertinent and relevant stories and real life experiences help to make the content come to life and subsequently, more interesting.

I had an instructor in college whose speciallity was Medeveal literature. Her passion for the subject was almost palpable; her eyes would shimmer, her voice was musical. She really loved what she did and because she did, her students could see what she could see in the material. We were motivated learners because she was a motivated instructor.

some of the ways that would encourage and motiviate learners ,first to offer encouragement, positive reinforcement, attentive listening to questions that the students may have.

Including real life experiences I have encountered at work in my lectures, making the material being presented much more animated and more easily remembered.

As the learners begin to form a mental picture of what their new careers might be like, they become more motivated to learn the material and move on to more and more....

I get them excited about what im teaching about by letting them know how and why the course excites me! I also give them reasons as to why the course is important to there career. Then I apply practical application to each of there interest. Its not hard when you act enthused about what you are teaching, and how you are teaching it.

I relate the content we are covering to one or more of my own experiences in the career to highlight the satisfaction that can be obtained in their chosen career.

One of the ways I motivate my students is to show them the great work of students who have taken the class before them. I show them some of the fantastic designs those students created and I show them some of the technical skills they will acquire. Seeing something and saying, "wow, I wish I could create that!" and then finding out that they will learn how to do precisely that in the class is another motivational bonus.

Use timely local examples or something recently remembered for recall and better understanding

To motivate the students we should also talked about real scenario in the field, these will interest them and they will always have something to share. We dont always go by the book.

My passion about the subject I am teaching displays excitement to the students. The students gain an interest about the subject. When I ask questions the students are engaged in the discussion.

During the lecture, give students examples of what they are learning and how it will apply in an actual work settings. Giving students tangible examples of skill sets makes learning more fun.

By modeling excitement -excitement in learning, excitement in being in class and out in the field - I will motivate and excite my students in their learning process.
