Find diffent ways to motivate students specially when the class is boring

The photos are such a great idea to motivate other students. The can see their peers being successful as well as see their families that have helped them through through their program. These are powerful connectors for all students.

I can usually tell when the class has reached that point in their progress when their workload and lack of free time is discouraging to them. As most of my students are "non-traditional" (adults with families and often low quality jobs jobs), it never hurts to point out that their training will result in a better quality life for their children, respect from others in their accomplishments, and renewed sense of pride in themselves. Although not required of me, I take photos at graduation ceremonies showing other graduates with their families and friends in attendance. These photos are displayed in the entrance hallway of the school. I remind them to stop and look at the photos and note the smiles and pride on the faces.

I, too, shared my journey to my students and told them that I also juggled family, work and school. I believe it helped them realize that I understand where they are in their lives and also I hope I can serve as a role model for some of them.

I think if you are passionate about your subject that will motivate the students.

Letting them know you understand their situations and encouraging them in the course is important. You are there to help them create a future for themselves and the more you can help them see that the greater their motivation is going to be.

Today I took the opportunity to encourage my students by sharing my personal journey. Lately, my students have been somewhat dispondent. They express their stress of managing family responsibilities, etc. I Let them know that I understood, and encouraged them by letting them know their efforts would have rewards.
