Class room
my question is
how do you deal or manage student in your class that he always tries to underestimate you as instructor, or tries to make himself-smarter than the instructor
I agree with the idea you layed out. I believe it can be a real encouragement to the the student, and assist in curbing the undesirable behavior.
Use the students enthusiasm as a teaching opportunity. Have him go to the white board and detail a classroom objective.
Fayez,
Start with a one on one conversation with student and discuss with him the behavior he is displaying. Ask why he is using this approach? Often this type of discussion is enough to stop the behavior. Another is to explain that while you appreciate is knowledge in fairness to the other students he is going to be able to answer only one question or make one comment about a topic. The key is to limit his time "on stage" so that he can't question your ability in front of the other students. If all else fails you can ask him to leave the class if he disrupts and hinders the learning of the other students.
