Model
As instructors we will consistantly be on stage. I can walk down the hall and hear my students repeating to others almost word for word what I've said. We are role models for the student.
Andre,
You make a good point about how all aspects of professional development and modeling needs to be integrated into the learning process. Respect, rapport and courtesy all contribute to a positive learning environment.

To me modeling professionalism goes beyond, dress, timeliness and language. I try to model respect for the students, the experiences they bring as well as their diverse backgrounds. Most of the students are adults and as such bring something of value to the course. As a part of being professional setting the stage for mutual respect is important.
Isn't that the truth. I try to always set a professional example by being in proper dress code, on time for class, and use professional language at all times. I also remind my students that professionalism is apparent in everything you do and say.
Linda,
This a good reminder for us all. We need to conduct ourselves at the highest professional level at all times in order to show our students what the expectations are of the field.
