instruction style

Instructional style should vary according to the class. Each class has its own unique personality. An instructors ability to adapt to different classroom personalities will be successful.

Stephanie,
Can you provide your students with guided notes that use the PPs as a guide. This way the students can see the major points and then they fill in the supporting information under each major point or topic. This helps them to stay on pace while getting all of the information down in their notes for later use.

I have had to adapt my lectures from one chapter in 3 hours per week to two chapters in 4.5 hours. My students feel over-loaded and my PowerPoints are prepped by the college. How do I lecture on everything required and help them succeed on weekly quizzes?

George,
Good point and one we need to remember as we do our planning for a new course.

I agree that instructor style should change with the students but we have to make sure that we dont compermise integrity of instruction by the style we use.

John,
It is critical because without a clear style students will not be sure of what is being communicated.

I really believe that this is important to the overall success of a student and class room.

Noel,
Very true. It is amazing how the a different section of a class can be completely different in terms of student dynamics. As a result we have to be flexible and adapt to their learning preferences and program to support them.

I agree. And the instructor should be able to "improv" as it were and change during class if need be.
