Creative types who become instructors
Any advise for those who are a creative type and have spent most of their career in front of the camera or on the air in radio and now are teaching in that field?
Brian,
This is one of the fun parts of being an instructor. You do get to be creative and come up with different ways of communicating your content. You make a good point though about being creative but in the context of effective instructional delivery and not just showing off.

I think that coming from a creative background can be very useful as a teacher. Not only will you have ideas for putting together interesting lectures and demos, but also for coming up with engaging in-class activities. I would just make sure to remember it is about the students, and not about showing off the creativity of the teacher.

Dean,
I think you have an edge as an educator. You already know the benefits of good communication so incorporate that knowledge and expertise into your lessons. Create lesson plans and then use your creativity to share them. The results should be awesome.
