Pedagogies on display
How transparent should an instructor be with their pedagogies? Should these be listed or posted for the students to view from the first day of class or should students see each instructor's pedagogy develop in front of them intuitively?
I like to share mine with my students on day 1. I generally distribute a handout that discusses classroom expectations, my teaching philosophy, pedagogy and style. I find I can set a nice tone with the students by doing so.
David,
Depending on how you post things for your students you can put them on the board, on a handout or send them online but sharing them is a good thing. They inform students how the course is going to operate and what is going to be covered and how. This keeps the students in the loop for the duration of the course.
