Doing and Teaching are totally different

I had worked in my field for over 30 years and decided to share my wisdom with others. When I began teaching I knew the answers. What I needed to learn is how to present the questions. What I mean is I could not just spit out information above the level of newer students. Also to keep the more advanced learners motivated. I have now been teaching for almost 7 years and I am still working on my teaching style as well as my presentation.

It's interesting that when you teach for the first time you think you have the answers and the students are merely sponges. Then you realize that they sometimes know more than you on a particular subtopic, and add a level of expertise to the classroom.

Having the ability to adapt is essential and never underestimate the students ability to think and deliver.

GREGORY,
Great to hear of your success in your teaching career. With your many years of experience you have a lot to offer your students and you prepare the next generation of individuals to enter your field. I have been teaching for many years and am still working on refining my instructional style. The fun part is that it is an ongoing process that keeps you challenged and excited so you can be an even more effective instructor. Keep up the good work.
