Syllabus

Should you not also be flexable with your syllabus?

The college I work for prepares the content and the syllabus and it makes it more difficult to be flexible. Although I can be flexible on the days of delivering which content. I still have to meet the test deadlines which make it more difficult for my students that are struggling.

I have found that I will be flexible in terms of lectures/discussion covered on a particular day, especially if we fall behind but I like to keep the test dates consistent.

Hi Paul,
A well prepared and laid syllabus will answer the general questions your students have as they start the course. You can be flexible with your syllabus as you need to be as situations arise which dictate that changes be made in assignments or due dates. When you do this make sure you talk with your students about the proposed changes so they know you are doing it for their good and not just because you want to change something.
