being prepared

it is essential to be prepared for the class for severeal reasons.
1) you dont have to stop and lose your rythem while lecturing to find a training aid.
2)telling the students what they are doing the next day prepares them for what they will learn
3) when you set up the class ahead you will find out if supplies are needed.
plus it is just professional

Class prep is definitely key to the day's success. It can be challenging, however, when you are trying to set up for a lesson, and early arriving students come in and begin asking questions, etc. Sometimes I wonder just HOW EARLY do I need to arrive to begin the setting up....

Being prepared helps me at every aspect of teaching. Having all materials ready a class before makes me much more confenent at what I am about to cover this rotation.

To add to what Scott Zucker has said what about test all the lab equipment before class. how about a plan for if the lights go out?

I believe that being prepared for class helps the instructor feel better about the information that his/she is relaying to the class and will enable the students to learn at faster rate.

I also agree it definitly makes the lecture for the day move smoothly.

I agree..it shouldnt even be a question of debate. teachers must be prepared with handouts, materials, the knowledge of the subject their teaching (preferably 3 days in advance) and make sure they are ready to answer questions relevant to the topic. sometimes i procrastinate and make copies an hour before class...not good! that one day the copier was out of order ..on both floors! and the computer was also down! talk about bad luck!

You need to make sure your room is ready for the class. Walk around and tidy up before class starts

I couldn't agree more, and I also practice those steps. It certainlyl makes teaching easier on you, and the students
