If possible prep with previous instructor!

I have found it works well if possible to discuss what worked well and what did not with the instuctor from were your new class is coming from. If posssible allow yourself enogh time to adapt to your new class.
Each class is a different melting pot of students from across the world. You have to take a different approche with each one. If you can get a little help from some one who has already done this it can go along way.

Hi Charlot,
What a great way of getting started. You can learn from a seasoned pro, explore delivery options and really get settled into your teaching style. No wonder you feel blessed. Keep up the good work.

I was very blessed to be able to spend several weeks preparing to teach my classes by observing and receiving guidance from an instructor who has been teaching these classes for several years. The opportunity to bring all my questions and concerns to such a seasoned instructor was invaluable!

I was lucky to have the chance to speak with a previous instructor and it really helped me out. I also had the chance to sit in on her class for a week before she left. I learned some very important tools to use in the class. I would have never thought of using those tools if I didn't sit in on the class. I am so thankful for that opportunity it helped me to add those simple but important steps.

Marc, I agree. Perhaps a good idea is to be as familiar with the class subject as possible, begin by delivering the content in a consistent manner and then adjusting to maximize results, without any pre-existing notions or biases about who is in the class.

I was terrified as a new instructor, I found the greatest comfort in prepping for my new class by getting with one of the seasoned instructors. Let us not forget to be as helpful to the other new instructors that come along after us!!!

While that can very often be a huge help, we need to be careful that we're not allowing another instructor's opinions of a student predetermine our own.

it is also beneficial to keep all of the classes moving at the same pace and each class getting the same knowlage.

I have found this to be beneficial also. If you are about to instruct a course which will be new to you it is important to cross train the course with a present instructor to completely famiarize with the course beforehand.
