good attitude, good appearance
always have the good attitude toward your class at all times, always look the part as well as be the part
I agree with this. I learned while in the military the lead by example way. I have carried it with me to any job I have had. I find it is easier to get the students to listen if I am following the same rules as they are. Where I work the students are graded on appearence and by not being hypocritical I find they are easier to lead or help in their professionalism.
I believe in the "lead by example" method of keys to success. If the students don't see how they should present themselves, how can they emulate it?
I have to agree with that statement. It has been my experiance that no matter what your personal problems are having a good attitude in class is contagious . even if the class didn't go as well as you hoped for at least the feedback from students as to the class was positive in the enjoyable catagory.
Hi Marie,
Well said concerning the modeling of desired behaviors and dress. The students need to have a standard against which they can measure what success is all about. The person with whom they will spend the most time and have the greatest influence early on in their training and career is the instructor. Keep up the good work and I wish you great success in your teaching.

We are always telling students to be well groomed and have a good attitude. We must model the behavior we want from the studnts. We stress professnalism and a good appearance and a good attitude is an important part of this.
Students who comply with this and make the effort should be complimented every time. You as the instructor should always look the part and "fake it till you make it" is important. Those who do not have a good attitude or appearance be they staff or student should have a quiet advisory as to why it is important. It is up to instructors to raise the standard on sloppy behavior. It will not be tolerated in the work force and habits like that are hard to break. Give them encouragement to make the changes necessary. Give them guidence as to who to talk to to get the information they need to change their attitude and appearance. Sometimes changing appearance on the outside, changes the attitude on the inside.

As a former repair shop owner i tell my students the inportance of how attitude and apperances are,you may only have one chance at makeing an inpression on your customers.
You are the model. set a proper example for your students
Attitude enhances the student learning ability and appearnace give an impacts to the profession.
I try to have a great attitude at all times,it has positive impact on my students.
If I expect my students to look the part so should I.I need to always check my attitude, because sometimes I dont feel positive !
I agree 100 percent one thing I do at the start of a new course is to let my students know that I expect them to be themselves, not to be afraid to ask questions, and that I will treat them with courtesy and respect.
This seems to work very well and helps to set the tone for the course.
Great point. It is very important to be non judgemental.
