Planning

As the Instructor, you have tremendous control over what your students learn, how they learn it, and most importantly, how they demonstrate their knowledge. Planning will give you the flexibility to adjust your lesson plans to the time you have available and will make it easier for you to accomplish your goals for student learning.

Hi Jill,
Great plan. This way you can approach the class with confidence that you have done your duty in being prepared.
Gary

I like to prepare an hour before as well, it gives me some time to reflect on the material and then it is fresh in my mind.

What I like to do, is get to the classroom about an hour before we actually start class so I can get all the parts/tools laid out in a decent arrangement so I can flow smoothly through the content and have the parts that I need for visual aides easily at hand.

Hi Tim,
The items you list are all components of a good instructional delivery plan. These efforts will help you with your professional development.
Gary

I find flexibility and the willingness to reflect and except feedback equally important. being too committed to the plan creates a stubborn atmosphere of rigidity that undermines your position of authority. I think the process of sober evaluation that occurs at the end of each class is essential.

Hi Ms Kim,
You are correct. Planning allows you the freedom to make changes and customize your instruction more. Your students will appreciate your efforts to be prepared and ready to teach. Everyone is a winner with these efforts.
Gary

Planning is one of the most important parts of preparing for your class. How you plan will effect the way your class runs.

Ms. Kim

Hi Chuck,
Good analogy. Out of this solid foundation will come respect and rapport between you and your students.
Gary

Agreed that plannning is crucial but what are you going to do with the box that someone gave you to teach out of? Paint it, cut windows, plant flowers? Get that solid fondation (your box) set up and then run with it once you find your comfort level with each class. make it fun for you and your students.

Hi Philip,
As you know instructors are constantly making changes in the way they offer instruction based upon the needs of students. By being well prepared and flexible you will be able to keep on top of the needs of your students. Good work.
Gary
