Being Prepared
I think that it is essential to be prepared for a class. The students are expecting everything to be in order and to fully understand what is expected of them.
The syllabus should clearly outline what they will be working on and what they will need to know by the end of the course.

Hi Laarni,
Yes being prepared is the key to a successful class. For you what are some of the key preparation areas as you get ready to teach?
Gary
Being prepared is the key to a succesful class in order to deliver a good teaching environment.
I agree with you that the syllabus should be in font that is easily read and that it is comprehendable by all students
Hi Laurie,
Right you are. The syllabus is a form of contract between you and the students. Thus, the "contract" needs to be clear and readable. I use different colors of paper for different sections of my syllabus so I can refer to them easier plus the students can see the sections they will be reading through.
Gary
The syllabus should also be easy to follow and easy to read. It is very important to use a size font and a font that is easy for everyone to read.
Hi Shelly,
Good point about the syllabus. It is the primary communication tool for the course goals, objectives, and requirements. All of these items need to be outlined clearly in the syllabus and the students' attention focused on them to reduce any misunderstandings that might occur.
