“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!†Benjamin Franklin.
If I fail to have a clear and precise plan of action (goals and objectives), how can I possibly create a positive and successful learning environment for the students.
It helps both the teacher and students on what is going on in the class. Not only the materials being covered, but what the expectations are for the course.
Developing specific goals and objectives for the course enable the instructor to plan appropriate lessons. It helps the student to understand why certain tasks and assignments are required. It provides guidance and motivation to complete the requirements of the course.
Nothing can be accomplished or moved forward from A&B if there is no clear directions to get to C&D.
Santos,
Clear goals and objectives are a must as you already know. If the students do not have a clear idea of how the course is going to operate and what the expectations are they become frustrated and this reduces the learning factor significantly.

Developing clear goals and objectives would help students understand what the instructor is expected of them and at the same time students would know what and how they can achieve their goals
It's important to have clear goals and objectives, so that you can set the class as well as the student up for success.
Laquenta,
I know you are going to like the results you get with this effort. It will pay off for you and your students big time.

I have honestly never thought of setting goals for my courses, I have always thrown in some type of incentive for my students if they meet certain requirements in a course. I love the idea of setting a goal and once it's achieved how accomplished they will feel afterward. I am going to apply this to my teaching methods a.s.a.p. It is something that will definitely work for my students, they love a challenge.
Jose,
Clear goals and objectives are a must if students are going to see the value of as well as the direction the course is going. Without such they are going to just be drifting.

Gary,
How do you share your course goals and objectives with your students?
Gary
Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Clear goals and objectives drive the learning over the duration of the course and beyond. Confusing or unclear goals can detract from learning and taking the students in a path where they would not achieve more or desire to learn more about the subject matter.
arive early , be prepaired, have objective and goals planed out before the class starts
I agree the goal and the objectives is the main focus and make the demo more enjoyable for the students.
Vickie Hill

Gary

I agree, I am glad I had this module it brought some great ideas that I can use to help me be better.
It is important to have clear goals and objectives for the course to provide a clear and obtainable direction for the students and instructor. All parties know what the learning expectation is and the direction to achieve the course results.
Greg
Adrian,
Students frequently need someone to help them create a career vision for themselves. You are doing that through your challenges and dream efforts. These vision quests are what are going to help your students to stay motivated.
