Goal Setting
Setting goals helps to establish the learning indicators that lead to success with each student. Without goals, students would be displaced by the lack of inspiration.
T. King
Not just are the setting of goals and objectives critical to the learning and evaluation process but they are imperative to the student development. Goals need to be clearly communicated to the student in a style whereas they understand that they will be required to set and accomplish goals either self given or employer given. They need to understand the process and communicating this to them from the first course goals is important.
Goals and objectives need to be covered, every time the class meets.
Yes, in some cases our courses, students may get "stuck" and need to find a workable solution to progress out. Sometimes just setting a time priority to practice certain skills that are hindering them from moving on can help can help. Other times they may need to reevaluate their career objectives and whether or not this class or course is really what they need to be learning or perhaps something else. Each student is individual with real life always at the forefront, so we as instructors need to help them set personal goals to hopefully attain their ultimate goal, which is graduation.
