Student Goals

What do you do when a student doesn't stick to the established goals?

help them with managing their time and find way to help them with better way of doing thing

Hi Tara,
This is a good strategy for keeping the student on course if that is possible. This way it is clear to the student what must be done as well as showing the student that you are there to support his/her effort. This way you have done everything you can do to keep them on course.

Dr. meers,

I would speak with the student as soon as it was apparent that they were not on track to meet a goal. Determining sooner rather than later what exactly the issue is will allow for the student to get back on track if they really want to succeed.

Hi April,
Talk with the student and try to find out what the problem is and why he/she is not staying on target. Explain why the goals are what they are and why they have been set. If the student still refuses to work with the established goals then he/she should be removed from the course or be given a failing grade.
Gary

If there are students who doesn't follow the goals, there are two things I might consider: Reviewing my course activities and seeing if the assignments or homework leads to an outcome of the goal, or evaluate the abilities of the students to meet the task. It might have to do with high expectations from me, or the timing of the presentation of the concept: ie. Maybe a later time, after a series of activitie, the concept or goal can be better realized.
