It is very important to always be prepared. Our students will know when we are prepared and organized.
very true,being new to teaching it took a while to get in the groove of planning and prep.It has made my teaching easier.
All students do better if the teacher has a well thought out plan for the course. If there is a good plan it helps guide the student in what to prepare for ( tests, quizes, homework). Also by doing this the teacher also will stay on track and could adjust to any changing needs of the student.
Being prepared for a class helps you to set a postive tone for the semester.
Most deffinately, students know when you are not prepared, they can tell if you reviewed the material you are teaching or not. If you have reviewed your material, it helps bring confidence while instructing as well.

You are absolutely correct with this statement. However, I think that it is even more pertinent to say that students will know when we are not prepared and organized. I like to compare it to officials in a sporting event. You know that they are doing a good job if you never notice them. I think that the same is true in class preparation and organization. You know that you have done a good job if the students don't know about the preparation and organization that took place. But, you know that you have some problems when stuents start recognizing problems with the preparation and organization of the class.
