Part of preparation is to not let outside issues or personal problems impact your ability to instruct the class.
If you are prepared to teach in a specific field, have the necessary preparation time and interest, then it should not be difficult to create an outline for material you expect to cover for each class, week and semester. The difficulty may be deciding on what to leave out of lectures.
I completely agree. Pre-planning is a very necessary part of education!
