be prepared
always have all materals ready before your course begins and have them in proper order to follow from the text book
always come in class early and set up your materiels and all the ingredients ready for my demo
For the type of setting I teacher, everything must be laid out and ready to go the evening before or your timelines are thrown off and the students are intolerable. I am less stressed if I am ahead of the game
We expect our students to be prepared for class and when we are not it is not conducive to fair learning.
Hi Chonitia,
Good point and one that needs to be remembered as we instructors prepare our instructional delivery. The students need to be able to look to us and feel that we have the big picture for the course in our minds and that we have an organized plan for delivering the content in an effective and efficient manner.

I totally agree with your concept with preparation however on another note, To be prepared shows the student base that you care and you are organized. It seems to also reduce anxiety especially when a student is in an excellerated course.
Hi Shari,
Well said. Preparation is a must because without it as you know there isn't really any substance to build upon.

I completely agree, you must be prepared before you walk in the room, otherwise you can lose credibility with your students.
I completely agree. As a new instructor, I have found that my level of preparation can really effect how the class experience will be for the students. I'm really starting to learn how much time I should devote to each class to make it a success.
I agree,by having your material ready prior to class you stay foccused and orgonized and by doing that the students will follow your steps wich will prepare them for a professional working atmosphere.
Hi Lori,
Great advice for instructors. Thanks for sharing it with us. New instructors need to see the value of planning and preparation prior to class. As you say good planning makes teaching easier.

I think the biggest mistake an educator can make is to think that the lesson begins when they step into the classroom. The lesson's success is definitely tied to the preparation done BEFORE going into the classroom. If you know your topic well you still need to prepare what order to present things any video clips, handouts, etc. The more work you do before the less you need to do during the class!
