student behaviour is very important in the class
This is very imprtant for me. You will spend alot of time when there is student feel negative and ask you to repeat the question many many times. And also if you have astudent who talk too much and disturbed you.
I have students who try to control the content of the class by asking silly questions to get off topic and disrupt the lecture because they are bored and want to be involved but talk about something else. How do others handle this type of disruption? I try to turn the question back to the subject at hand but I feel this only encourages that type of student to keep up this behaviour.
I totally agree that student behavior is important. I encourage discussion among the class, but some students take it too far. Whether they are talking among themselves, or commenting on anothers students' opinion, I find myself having to redirect these behaviors. I always begin the evening by reinforcing that we respect everyone and their thoughts. Also, moving the discussion or lecture into my favor seems to bring people back to a controlable atmosphere
