Syllabus

What is the best way to write a syllabus for a course that has not been offered before at your school.

Hi Roy,
There are two components to writing a syllabus. One, secure all of the required polices and rules for your college to put in the syllabus. Then the expectations you have for the class.
The second part revolves around the course content. Decide the course goal(s), objectives and activities. List those out to see if they cover the course as you see it. Include any required resources, like uniforms, tools,etc.. List the text for the course and any other materials they need to secure. Then develop your grading rubric for the syllabus.
When you put all of these components together you will have a well developed syllabus that covers the essentials of your course both from a logistical and programmatic perspective.
