Ending Class
Recap the objectives that was learned for that class period.
Hi Jennifer,
I think you will really like the results. It helps put it all together for the students as you summarize the class.

I like your idea of recapping. As a new instructor, I have felt something lacking in my closure of class. I am going to try recapping.
Students like closure, they like to be able to "connect the dots" so to speak. My recap reinforces how we are getting from Point A to Point B, what they should be leaving with, what assignments are needed before the next class, and what they can expect in the next class. All of this is written on the board.
I agree, not to be hard on my students, but this let's me know if they are paying attention.
Hi Jennifer,
Good strategy. The more you can get the students to review and repeat the content the greater their knowledge retention is going to be.

I quiz my class about all information learned that day through creating a competition atmosphere. I have found that a review at the end and beginning of each class really helps in retaining information.
I also like to recap or summarize the lesson this
lets me know if the students learned the objectives for that day, and if there are any questions that they may have unanswered.
