Teaching Environment
Taking a thorough assesment of your classroom will provide the instructor an opportunity to eliminate any environmental barriers.
I also find it helpful to allow the students to modify the classroom to meet their own needs.
We have a non-traditional set up for our tables to enable the students to transition from the screen to the board, which are at opposite ends of the room.
I didn't design the set-up, but the students have to work with it :)

Right you are. A walk about before class will help you see the classroom/lab as the students see it. This will show you if you need to make any changes to make the setting comfortable for the students.
