Course materials

As an instructor do you feel it is important to bring outside additonal learning tools (related to course material) to best help your students study and learn the material given?

Definately. I use my personal materials to give students different ways of learing or seeing things that we discuss in class. These include professional journal articles of different medical case studies for example.

Books, supplies, or any material that will bring life to your subject and to be more understandable.

yes, anything that can bring another view on a subject is good. Not all students learn the same way or from the same material. Having options is a very good thing.

yes, book material along with guest speakers seem to motivate the students to ask questions related to their field.

I believe that the wider the experiences, the better the student learns. Supplemental material, guest speakers, practioners, and even volunteering patients who share their good and bad experiences adds relevance and depth to the student's learning experience and will better translate into their career field. The only caution is to not lose sight of the purpose and overall content of the class objectives.

I believe the more creative you can get the better the students learn.

Anything that can help the students relate to the course material will help. It also helps students who are hands on type learners to actually put their hands on and or visually comprehend the material.

Yes, it is important so that the instructor can establish relevancy.
